Smart violence prevention for kids and young people

In addition to reading, writing and arithmetic, our children should above all learn social interaction at school. To support this process, we offer special violence prevention courses. Children and young people learn the right behavior in conflict situations to avoid becoming victims or perpetrators and gain confidence, self-confidence and social skills. Violence prevention for children – here’s how!

Find out directly from our trainers what the concept behind our courses is: Roy Schirdewahn and Anka Segendorf give a brief overview of the content and how they help to teach children and young people safety and social skills as a protective shield.

Our program: smart and tailor-made

In our courses, our comprehensive violence prevention training is individually tailored to the respective class or group. We discuss what the participants need beforehand. In general, the courses always focus on measures for recognizing and assessing danger, such as self-assertion through the use of voice, gaze, facial expressions, gestures and posture, as well as simple self-defence techniques that can be learned quickly without any special prerequisites.

Learning to prevent violence flexibly

Our EWTO violence prevention courses are available in various formats, from one-day or one-week courses to 6- or 12-month working groups. We offer the following courses as standard:

Tab auswählen

Basic course with 4 lessons
The basic course teaches self-assertion and self-defense by means of safety according to grades. The course is usually held in the morning with 4 lessons. On afternoons or for daycare centers, it can also be spread over 2 or 4 days.
Extended basic course with 6 lessons
The extended basic course is the ideal format for a hiking or project day. The course runs for 6 school hours from the morning and therefore allows for more detailed teaching of safety according to grades or, if desired, the integration of an optional module.
Basic course with 8 lessons
The basic course comprises 8 lessons and has a flexible structure. It can be held on two days with 4 hours each or on 4 days with 2 hours each. The content of the program can also be tailored to the needs of the group.
Extended basic course with 12 lessons
The extended basic course is specially designed for elementary school. Over three consecutive days, pupils learn the basics of self-defense, the art of self-assertion and the correct behavior when approached by a driver.
Compact course with 16 or 20 lessons
Self-defense, self-assertion and de-escalation, taught in a compact format: With a duration of 4 to 5 days, the compact course is ideal for a project week. For afternoon classes and for kindergartens, it can also be restructured to 8 or 10 days with 2 lessons each.
AG with 40 or 80 lessons
WingTsun as an after-school club: We offer an in-depth, needs-based program for half or a whole school year for exciting after-school care.
Refresher course with 3 lessons
Consolidate and improve what you have learned: Our refresher courses consolidate the skills from the basic, foundation and compact courses and help our students to feel confident and self-assured even after six to twelve months.

Exciting modules for every class and group

Of course, every class and group has its own needs. Therefore, the content and learning objectives of our violence prevention courses can be tailored using the following modules to achieve the greatest possible success:

Learn safety by grades!
“Safety by grade” is the basis of all courses and takes at least 4 lessons. Self-defense and self-assertion are taught in a sustainable way, self-confidence is strengthened and the children are equipped for everyday life.
Join Team Fair!
Are we always fair to each other? In 2 to 6 lessons, pupils learn to be aware of fair and socially competent cooperation and create a healthy class or group community in a fun and playful way.
Earn your respect!
Diligence, helpfulness, critical faculties, honesty, reliability, personal responsibility and much more: in 2 to 4 lessons, we collect values that have earned our respect. The most important of these are identified in various exercises and agreed as a team.
Take a stand against bullying!
What is bullying and what does it feel like to be bullied? In 2 to 6 lessons, various exercises and games offer pupils the opportunity to develop joint measures against bullying and to create their own anti-bullying contract.
Be brave and smart at the same time!
Showing courage without taking a risk: In 2 to 4 lessons, pupils learn how they can help other people without endangering themselves and that civil courage can make a difference not only during, but also before and after an action.
Defend yourselves against foreign dangers!
How do our children behave when an adult approaches them from the car or in the playground? This important topic is prepared in 4 to 6 lessons in an age-appropriate and fear-free manner and then simulated directly on the car in order to practice the emergency as effectively as possible.
Draw your boundaries!
In this module, we gently teach the children in 2 to 4 lessons how they can protect themselves from abuse. They learn that their bodies belong to them, that they can make confident decisions about who they allow to be close to them and what distinguishes good secrets from bad ones.
Say “No” clearly!
“No!” is a complete statement and does not need to be justified. In 2 to 4 lessons, we use this principle to teach pupils how to set clear boundaries and say no with confidence – even to negative offers such as smoking, alcohol and drugs.

Security that has proven itself

We have been running EWTO violence prevention courses with great success for more than 25 years. With more than 600 branches in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, EWTO Violence Prevention is one of the largest and most successful providers of violence prevention in Europe. Our programme is part of the European WingTsun Organization (EWTO), which is also the largest self-assertion and self-defence association in Europe.

Simple, non-binding and free to try!

To find out more about our violence prevention courses, you can try them out free of charge and without obligation in a personal consultation, a program presentation and a taster course (2 hours).

Your questions, our answers

The content and didactics of the courses are adapted to the age of the participating children and can be taken by pre-school children from the age of 5 to prepare them for school.

The courses constantly alternate between explanation and practical exercise – and this can be easily implemented in any conventional classroom. A sports hall or exercise room is therefore not necessary, but can of course also be used for some larger exercise sessions.

There are certain modules in the EWTO violence prevention program, such as “Approach by a driver”, “Approach by an adult in the playground”, “Safety on the way to school and in the school playground”, etc., in which the appropriate behaviour is ideally practised in the relevant environment – but only if the general conditions allow for safe training.

Our self-defense solutions are designed in such a way that size, strength, speed and stamina do not play a decisive role. Anyone can learn to stand their ground and defend themselves. By the way: Our program is based on the techniques of WingTsun, which was developed by two women to defend themselves simply and effectively against men.

As the EWTO violence prevention courses are based on just five simple main learning objectives, the content is not only learnable for everyone, but also very easy to remember. This means that participants can still recall them years later. Even the basic course with only 4 lessons is already structured accordingly (main learning objectives: Airbag, boundaries, hands in front, self-assertion before self-defense, intuition).
